Other
Whales
Larger whales also seem
to seek and enjoy human contact. Minke Whales are noted for their
"ship-seeking" behavior, while others,including humpbacks,
can appear to be fascinated by smaller crafts and their occupents
and may repeatly circle and dive under the boat or frequently
spyhop. Their usually careful not to bump boats. They will often
approach and interact with people, even to the point of physical
contact.
Whales are quite gentile
and aware of where swimmers are in relation to their extremites.
One female Southern Right Whale was followed to closely my a swimmer
and felt behind with her fluke before delevering a sharp sideways
warning flick of her tail.
